Synopsis:
DeSC: Does OIT recommend any defragmentation software for Windows?

Solution:
DeSC licenses a defragmenter called Symantec's Norton Speed Disk which is installed with the Central Software Set on all DeSC machines. SWS will not install any other deframenters on DeSC machines at this time. This software is on all DeSC machines and is pre-configured to defrag the computer every Thursday evening. The end user does not have to run or configure it.

For Non-DeSC, OIT cannot recommend Symantec Norton Speed Disk because Symantec no longer sells it. The recommendation is to either use the built-in Windows defragger (which cannot be scheduled) or to use Executive Software's DiskKeeper (licensed on a individual machine basis).
