Proofpoint: How to manage your Profile using your Spam policy setting
Solution:
The Manage My Account link from within your Proofpoint Digest e-mail
message allows you to make several changes to your Digest from a single web
page. From this special web page you can add and delete e-mail addresses
from your personal Safe Senders and Blocked Senders lists. You can also make
changes to your personal profile, such as selecting a Spam Policy from the
list of available policies, and selecting whether or not you want to receive
a Digest even when you do not have messages in the Quarantine.
- Click on Manage My Account from within a digest message or go directly to www.princeton.edu/proofpoint
- Click on Profile in the bottom left corner of your browser window.
- Click on Settings.
The second set of bullets determine what type of spam policy you want. The four choices are described below.
Default
OIT has been told by the vendor that these settings are no different than the second bullet, which is also described as default. A bug report has been submitted to the vendor.
Send all spam and possible spam to the quarantine
This policy option will quarantine spam (Proofpoint score is 80 or higher)
as well as probable/possible spam (Proofpoint score is 40-79) and will send
digests to you. This is the option most customers should choose, and this
is the default policy.
Discard messages that Proofpoint classifies as spam; quarantine messages
that Proofpoint classifies as possible spam
This policy option will discard spam (Proofpoint score is 80 or higher),
quarantine probable/possible spam (Proofpoint score is 40-79) and will send
digests to you. If you are confident that Proofpoint is scoring spam properly,
this is the option to reduce the listings of messages in your Digest.
Additionally, if no new spam has been quarantined, the system behavior is
set to not send an empty digest, further reducing the amount of mail delivered
to your Inbox.
Score messages only, do not quarantine any messages. All messages will
go to your Inbox and no digest report will be generated.
With this policy option, messages will be scored by Proofpoint but no action
will taken with spam. All messages, including spam, will be delivered to
your Inbox should you not want your messages diverted to a Quarantine.
Recommended Settings for Advanced Users
If you are confident with Proofpoint's ability to determine spam, you can
configure your account to only deliver a digest when Proofpoint has "possible
spam" for you to view. The image below shows the recommended settings for
ease of use and least amount of digest messages to your Inbox.
