Solution:
The following information is for OIT technical support staff and is intended for posting of updates on support levels for Windows 7 and Vista on campus, as well as resource tools available for support. For details regarding OIT full support for images on specific hardware and areas of support, please see the information below.

Windows 7
At this time, OIT is in the process of testing Windows 7 for migration and implementation purposes. Please see kb.princeton.edu/9874 for more information if you are planning to upgrade or purchase this operating system.

Windows Vista
Fully supported hardware and imaging tools

OIT is currently offering full Vista/Office 2007 support for:

  • Non-DeSC computers in departments
    The OIT Vista imaging tools were placed into production and are now available to campus technical staff for departmental non-DeSC computers. See braveheart.princeton.edu/rollout for the Vista Setup Guide which describes how to set up Vista Enterprise Edition for departmental machines.A Microsoft Vista Enterprise image is available for the Dell Latitude D620, D630 (Laptops), Optiplex 745, GX620 and the 755 (Desktops) & Lenovo X61T (TabletPC when they becomes available).
  • Students covered by Microsoft Campus Agreement

Support and tools to maintain Vista computers on campus have been put into place for imaged and non-imaged Vista machines. Other areas offering full support for Vista:
