PUaccess: What is an Access Pad?
Synopsis:
PUaccess: What is an Access Pad?

Solution:

The Access Pad is an online display that you use to enter your password or answer a security question. As part of the process to set your Enhanced Security Profile, you will select an image/phrase combination to personalize your Access Pad. Once you have made that selection, seeing your image and phrase will assure you that you have not reached a phishing site and that it's safe to enter your password or answer a security question.

Before you set your ESP, you will see a generic AP that looks like the image below:

There is no specific image or phrase on this generic pad, but there is a timestamp to help prove the legitimacy of the login prompt.

When you are setting your ESP, an image/phrase combination will be randomly generated for you. You can change that selection to see other image/phrase combinations. Once you see a image/phrase that you feel you can easily remember, you can continue with setting your ESP using that image and phrase.

In future logins, you will see a personalized Access Pad with the image/phrase you have selected along with a current timestamp that knows your local time zone. The timestamp provides assurance that you are not seeing a previously captured Access Pad image.
