Dear Princeton University cPanel user:
In an effort to further strengthen security protections for the cPanel service, SSH access to cPanel will be restricted to on-campus access only. What this means: if you access your cPanel site using SSH from a computer located off-campus, you will need to first establish a connection to the Princeton Secure Remote Access (also known as Virtual Private Network, or VPN) before using SSH. This change only affects SSH access. The cPanel graphical user interface login will be unaffected by this change.
If your Depatmental cPanel site was developed by an outside web developer who uses SSH access, they will need a Departmental Computer User (DCU) account to use Princeton's Secure Remote Access service. You can obtain a DCU account by visiting the online form at https://oitforms.princeton.edu/HD/dcuaccount.
This change in cPanel network access is scheduled to take place at 7:00 AM on Tuesday, April 9. We appreciate your assistance in improving the security of the cPanel service. Please let us know if this date presents an undue hardship for your department.
How do I connect to University online resources from off-campus?
Departmental cPanel and Personal cPanel.
